“A Place at the Table” – Celebrating Communion: A Workshop for Families
Please set aside Saturday February 15th to attend a workshop for families with children called “A Place at the Table” – Celebrating Communion: A Workshop for Families. This time together will focus on welcoming children to the Lord’s Supper. We will meet at 4:00-5:30 pm for the workshop and enjoy supper from 5:30-6:30 pm. Childcare will be provided for babies and toddlers during the workshop. Let us know if you need this childcare.
Last year Pillar began celebrating communion each week. We did so out of a conviction that this sacrament shapes who we are as a worshiping community. Christ meets us there and we are joined more to him and to each other. Along with the CRC and the RCA churches, we are encouraging children to participate in a way that is appropriate to their age and faith. We want to encourage parents to have conversations with their children about the meaning of the sacrament of communion. In order to facilitate the process we are offering a workshop on February 15th. The workshop will involve some brief teaching about the sacrament and will also provide several hands on experiences to help us understand what it means to celebrate communion.
A five-day devotional will be made available to your family on January 26th. This interactive tool will help your family prepare for the workshop. It is called, “A Place at the Table”. You may pick up your copy in the lobby. Please sign-up for the workshop at the sign up table or by email to email@example.com by February 9th so that we can prepare for your families participation. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Pastor Chris De Vos at firstname.lastname@example.org or Becky Husbands at email@example.com We are looking forward to learning together!
