Welcome!

Thank you for wandering onto the Pillar website. I hope you find what you’re looking for. What I’d really love is to get to know you. If you’re new to the area, or checking out church, or wondering about faith, if you’re in a season of great delight or significant struggle, I’d love to learn your name and hear your story. I’ll share some of mine too, if you’d like. That’s part of what makes Pillar, Pillar. We want to be a place where your name is known, your story heard, your questions honored. It would be gift to share that with you.

I’m grateful to be one of the pastors at Pillar. It’s a dually affiliated congregation of the Christian Reformed Church of North America and the Reformed Church in America. Those denominational names may not mean much to you, but I have a hunch you can relate to our story. There was a split that took place in our congregation in 1882. It was a massive split that sent those two denominations spiraling in different directions. At the time, Pillar needed to pick a side and had to choose one denomination over the other. Fast forward 130 years and we reestablished ourselves as a dually affiliated congregation of both denominations. We call ourselves “a church for the city,” committed to reconciling divisions, raising up leaders, redeeming the city, renewing the church. Again, you may not know about or care much for those two denominations, but I’m guessing you know a little bit about division: maybe in your family, at work, certainly in our country, and too often in our churches. Our story of division has become our heartbeat for reconciliation. We’re eager for the day when all things are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, and we’re grateful to participate in that reconciling work in the world.

There’s a lot more to Pillar. I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our community and discover how you can become involved. Let me share how much I love the Pillar staff I get to be a part of, the congregation we get to share mission with, and the wider community we get to love. If you have any questions or would like to connect, feel free to email me: jon@pillarchurch.com. Again, thanks for finding your way to Pillar in this way.

I’m eager to meet you.

Peace to you.
Jon
