Week One: June 18, Introduction
Speaker: Michael Brooks, Assistant Professor of English at Hope College
Testimony Video: Rene Olivera
N.T. Wright, a prominent New Testament scholar and theologian, often describes the biblical narrative as a five-act play. This framework helps people understand the overarching story of Scripture as a cohesive drama, with each “act” representing a major phase in the unfolding of God’s plan for creation and humanity.
We are inundated all of the time with information, telling us how we should live our lives. In the moments that we are able to quiet the noise, being immersed in the Bible centers, equips and inspires us to live amongst all of the chaos, giving way to learn AND live out the Spirit-breathed story of God’s redemptive work in the world.
Join us in welcoming Hope College’s Assistant Professor of English, Michael Brooks as he walks us through an introduction of storytelling in the narrative of scripture. On Wednesday, June 18, our evening will begin with dinner on the Pillar lawn at 5:30pm followed by our talk in the sanctuary at 6:30. Families are encouraged to enjoy dinner together on the lawn – check in for the Pillar Kids Creation Class (nursery, preschool, and K-5) begins at 6:15 at the Lower Level Welcome Desk.
