Scripture
“What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.” (Luke 12.29-32, The Message)
Prayer
Grant, we beseech thee, merciful Lord,
to thy faithful people pardon and peace,
that they may be cleansed from all their sins
and serve thee with a quiet mind;
through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord,
who liveth and reigneth with thee,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Reflection
The atmosphere that is breathed in the free life in Christ is not pure air: there is pollution—lies and insecurities and cynicism and doubt. But at least it is open air. What must be rejected out of hand is any return to the stifling existence of the hospital of the world which only makes sense out of life in terms of its sickness and sin…We are called and privileged to be pioneers in exploring the free country.

As you walk
God asks us: “Where are you?”
We answer God: “Here I am.”
Write, speak, or simply pray on where you are.
Here I am…
- What questions do you have in response to God?
- What stories of your own life or from another arise?
- What are your “Amens” — your epiphanies, discoveries, celebrations?
