Help Prevent Fires in the Home

Every year in Holland, the highest number of fires occur in the home in late January and early February. To combat this threat and to help protect your home, please remember the following:

  • Check your smoke alarms and confirm they operate.
  • A smoke alarm is needed on each level of your home, in each sleeping area, and in the mechanical space.
  • Move combustible materials away from space heaters.
  • Avoid overloading electrical outlets

Closely monitor stovetops and candles

Any smoking materials must be extinguished with water or sand, before throwing them out.

  • Make sure any mechanicals, like the furnace or bathroom vent fan, are clear of snow and operating properly.

If you have questions call 616-355-1020. Thank you for your time! Protect your home and during this indoor season!
