Our Refuge and Rock

For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my deliverance and my honor; my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.
Psalm 62

We are encouraged by David in Psalms 62 to have confidence and trust in God who is our rock and salvation. David repeatedly uses the symbol of the rock because God is a secure defender of His beautiful creation. The rock (Jesus Christ) secures the space in our preoccupied lives to have time to wait silently for Him from whom our salvation comes. Jesus Christ who became incarnate is also our rock and a symbol of steadfast love and salvation. A defender of our faith by His word because He is seated at the right hand of God and intercedes on our behalf which is indeed an act of His everlasting love.

Therefore, It is beautiful to meditate on the assurance we have in Christ Jesus, that through the power of the Holy Spirit our hope in this world is guaranteed, even though we are in the world, we are not of the world, even though sin lingers, but through the righteousness of God, the world is made beautiful and for God’s love to reach all people.

Despite all the fear, panic, and anxiety that is a result of all the evil happening all over the world, we can find rest and confidence in God almighty. He is our fortress, and we are not shaken, we are secured, He is our refuge and the rock, He rewards everyone according to what they do, so let us do good in this beautiful world of God.
