What Might God Do?
(a poem/prayer by Nancy Boote)
What might God do in us,
if we asked the Maker of the Universe?
What might God do in us,
if we asked the One who is Majestic
and mindful of us?
What might God do in us,
human beings, whom He cares for?
What might God do in us,
if we listened to His voice?
What might God do?
What might God do among us?
What might God be working in you?
My friend, Nancy Boote, who is a part of the Pillar community and worships at the Warehouse wrote and designed a wide ranging assortment of prayers, reflections, and prompts to accompany us throughout the Fall. Thank you Nancy for your thoughtful work!
Lately, a few words have emerged as to how we might try to embody our faith as a Pillar community in the time and place we find ourselves:
- Reconciliation Curiosity
- Risk
- Creativity
- Openness
- Dependency
- Sacramental Locality
This collection of words is not a step-by-step process of life together. It is not a checklist of things to take care of. It is a doorway into a deeper life together. What if we took on a risky faith in a turbulent world? What might happen if we attempted to stop thinking we can do it all and instead live in a humble posture of dependency that God so clearly calls us toward? And all for the purpose of drawing deeper into life with God as we ask again,
What might God do among us?
Peace to you as we discover and grow together.
