Local Lent Missional Project:
This year Pillar Church’s Local Missional Project will focus on supporting a community-led effort serving individuals being released from the North Lake Processing Center in Baldwin Michigan. Pillar will be coming alongside this initiative side by side with other West Michigan ministries and local pastoral networks to provide tangible care for people who are often released late at night into a remote area without adequate clothing or transportation.
Pillar will be helping collect the following items:
Coats
New or gently used adult winter coats
Gas Cards
25 dollar cards such as Shell Wesco or Marathon
Pre Packed Backpacks labeled Male or Female containing the following items:
– Clothing such as socks underwear t shirt sweatpants sports bra for women and shoelaces
– Winter gear such as gloves and a warm hat
– Toiletries such as toothbrush toothpaste deodorant 2 in 1 shampoo wet wipes or hand sanitizer
– Extras: such as small snacks
These simple items help provide warmth, dignity and safe passage for those traveling long distances to return home. This project is an opportunity for our church to embody neighborly love and live out our call to show up with compassion in practical ways within our own region.
