Scripture
Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night. They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.
Psalm 1:1-3
Prayer
O Lord,
we beseech thee mercifully to receive the prayers
of thy people which call upon thee;
and grant that they may both perceive and know
what things they ought to do,
and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil the same;
through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord,
who liveth and reigneth with thee,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Reflection
Give yourself the gift of not taking, or at least pocketing your phone — but do bring a pencil… Jot down the names of trees, neighbors, and people’s dogs. Discover hidden avenues, hole-in-the-wall coffee shops, and your favorite bench. You can pick more than one path, just make sure you actually walk. The goal of getting outside is to become more childlike. So wonder as you walk. God is closer than we think. There is already holy ground beneath your feet.
— Matt Canlis
As you walk
God asks us: “Where are you?”
We answer God: “Here I am.”
Write, speak, or simply pray on where you are.
Here I am…
- What questions do you have in response to God?
- What stories of your own life or from another arise?
- What are your “Amens” — your epiphanies, discoveries, celebrations?
